Our tutor, Virginia Listanti, has invited us to enjoy her recent trip to Sicily. Following the coastline, we will start and end our journey in Palermo – exploring Cefalù, Messina, Catania, Siracusa, Modica, Noto, Agrigento and Trapani.
Only a few days to go now, in fact - this coming weekend Sunday, 26 September 2010. I am really looking forward to this year's festival because it is going to show Wellington how far Club Garibaldi has progressed forward over the last 128 years. I am sure our forebearers would never have envisaged such growth that would facilitate us holding an Italian Festival at the largest venue in the City. I invite all our members and their families and friends to join me for a wonderful day where we can 'soak in the success' of our people in New Zealand, and be proud to be Italian. Thousands will be travelling from all over the country to enjoy our produce, food, music, entertainment, singing, dancing, fashion parades, along with that special atmosphere that only we, the people and descendants of Italia can create.
My thanks in advance to those who have kindly offered to make home cooked dolci and cakes. Please bring them directly to our cake stall on the day. This, along with the dozens of voluntary helpers is so important. The festival is the only event in which the club is actively involved in fund-raising each year.
The entry tickets: Adults $8.00, Children 5-12 years $5.00 - include a chance to Win a trip to Italy. Under 5's free. Tickets are available at the gate, however to save time and queuing, you can book your ticket on-line at Ticketek at www.ticketek.co.nz or telephone: 0800 TICKETEK. Stadium car parking is only $6.00 for the whole day.
Please note: The club will be closed on Sunday, 26 September, because of the Italian Festival.

Our sincere thanks go out to Salve Volpicelli from Fish Fins in Newtown, and to Moore Wilson Ltd, Wellington City, for sponsoring our stalls this year.
